As part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing digital competencies in the youth sector, the AI4YouthWork project, supported by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, has released two essential tools for youth workers. The consortium proudly introduces the AI Training Toolkit and the Map of Trustworthy AI-Powered Solutions for Youth Work with its Assessment Matrix, both created to support informed and responsible AI use in youth work settings.

AI Training Toolkit: Practical Support for Youth Workers and Young People

The AI Training Toolkit provides youth workers with hands-on materials to help young people understand AI and use it responsibly. Designed to foster AI literacy, critical thinking, and digital awareness, the toolkit offers:

  • Increased capacity to integrate AI into youth work
  • Ready-to-use, activity-based workshop plans
  • Support for the ethical and responsible adoption of AI

The toolkit includes 16 workshop plans, each complete with objectives, step-by-step activities, preparation guidelines, training materials, and debriefing suggestions. Developed collaboratively by project partners, these workshops reflect real needs, practical examples, and youth-centered approaches from across Europe.

Rather than a traditional theoretical manual, the AI Training Toolkit is designed as a hands-on resource that youth workers can use directly in their practice. It enables them to select a workshop plan, prepare efficiently, and confidently lead engaging sessions with young people. Through these interactive workshops, participants develop a clear understanding of how AI technologies work, gain insight into both the opportunities and risks associated with AI systems, and build the skills to critically evaluate, question, and use AI tools responsibly in their daily lives.

This resource equips youth workers to prepare the next generation for a digital era shaped by AI, fostering informed, responsible, and active young citizens.

Map of Trustworthy AI-Powered Solutions and Assessment Matrix

The project also introduces the Map of Trustworthy AI-Powered Solutions for Youth Work and Assessment Matrix, a structured guide supporting youth workers in navigating the fast-growing landscape of AI technologies.

The map features 24 AI tools identified as potentially valuable in youth work. Each tool has been evaluated using the Assessment Matrix, a methodology built on 28 indicators across categories such as:

  • Human agency and oversight
  • Technical robustness and security
  • Privacy and data governance
  • Diversity, non-discrimination, and fairness
  • Social and environmental impact
  • Accountability
  • Technical and financial considerations
  • Training and support

This framework helps youth workers identify tools that align with principles of Trustworthy AI, ensuring transparency, accountability, and ethical use. While the matrix includes assessments of the 24 selected tools, it is designed for continuous use. Youth workers are encouraged to apply it when exploring any new AI technology, supporting informed, ethical, and inclusive decision-making
